#ErijiyanFactor: The Town Called Erijiyan Ekiti

er 2-1Erijiyan – Ekiti, also called the Golden City, is one of the one hundred and forty towns and villages that make up Ekiti state. It is 30 kilometers from Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state and sits close to the now popular resort town Ikogosi. er 2-3
Ikogosi is host town to Ikogosi Warm and Cold Springs Resort currently beneficiary of an intuitive and gracious face lift by the state government.er 2-4
Erijiyan may be less popular but is also one with rich history and heritage. The Oba (Olohan of Erijiyan Ekiti) occupies the highest office in the traditional and spiritual sense and is assisted by numerous Chiefs.er 2-5
The Erijiyan-Ekiti people are predominantly farmers. They cultivate crops like yams, local rice called ofada, corn, cocoyam, plantain, banana, and palm oil. They also engage in trading activities, selling their farm produce within and without the town.er 2-6
Erijiyan farmers also sell cash crops like cocoa, coffee, rubber etc and their markets are held every four days. The cash crops are sold in quite large quantities to traders from other major towns like Ado-Ekiti, Ilesa, Ibadan etc.er 2-2
Like most towns in Ekiti state, it is a town surrounded with hills, streams and springs. This alone makes it gives it a picturesque beauty and makes it pleasing on the eye.
Erijiyan, in my opinion, is beautiful because of the landscape.
